  • Open Cheese Toasties



    Open Cheese Toasties

    Makes 6 hefty slices

     

    225 g Ladismith cheddar cheese, roughly cubed
    1 large egg 
    1 T (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce
    1 t (5 ml) prepared mustard
    1 X 200 ml  Ready to Serve Cheese Sauce
    6 slices of bread, white or brown, toasted 
    Tomato Pesto

     

    Put the cheese, egg, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and Cheese Sauce in a food processor. Whiz until smooth. Spread toast first with a thin layer of Tomato Pesto and then with a thick layer of the cheese mixture.
     

    Pack out on a baking sheet.
     

    Just before serving, flash under a hot grill or bake for ± 10 minutes at 220°C.
     

    VARIATION
     

    Slice cooked potatoes, seasoned with Potato Spice and spread out in a large oven pan or dish. Spoon and spread cheese mixture over and bake for ± 20 minutes at 200°C until brown and puffy. Lovely as a meatless main with salad.
