Cook your frozen or freshly cut chips using your preferred method: in the air fryer, oven, or deep-fried until crisp and golden.
While the chips are cooking, heat the oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent. Add the mince, garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook, breaking up the mince with a spoon, until it is browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
Place your cooked, crispy chips into a lined air fryer basket or an oven-safe baking dish. Add the cooked mince over the chips, then sprinkle the grated Ladismith Gouda generously over the top.
Place it back in the air fryer or under the oven grill for 3–5 minutes, until the Gouda is melted and bubbling.
Remove from the heat and garnish with your favourite burger toppings, like lettuce, gherkins, chopped tomatoes, and red onion. Drizzle with mayo or your favourite burger sauce.
